When looking for wood chairs, there are many options available. The question is which type of wood is the most durable, needs the least maintenance, and looks the best? There are lots of types of wood, and a few examples are, oak, cherry, mahogany, cedar, pine, and teak. After much research, the one wood that falls into all 3 categories is teak wood. Teak chairs are durable, need little maintenance, and look great for years. Teak chairs can be used indoors and outdoors and are very stylish.
They have a special oil that repels water, which will prevent the chair from cracking and becoming brittle. There is little need to store these chairs in the colder climates. The key to finding a really good teak chair is looking for the wood grade A. This means there will be no imperfections in the wood or variances of color. Grade A is always kiln-dried, which makes these chairs more durable and sturdy.
Paint should be reapplied only as needed. Also note, unfinished wood like teak will adopt a gray sheen over time. Do not worry; this process does not directly harm the wood in any way. Rather, it is the sun’s natural patina process fading the wood into an aged, mature look. If that’s not your thing, make sure you keep up on the varnishing.
